"Obusha knows that attention deficit disorder is systemic among Americans who are far more focused on Kanye sticking his dick in a lot of different pussy besides his pregnant soon to be divorced wife than the fact that they are being 4th and 1st amendment fucked by a very expensive dragnet that is yielding not jackshit in stopping terrorism."

Gender Neutral Pronouns in Sweden

madamedechevre:

Swedes are shaking up their language with a new gender-neutral pronoun. The pronoun, “hen,” allows speakers and writers to refer to a person without including reference to a person’s gender. This month, the pronoun made a big leap toward mainstream usage when it was added to the country’s National Encyclopedia.

Which came first, man’s desire to rape, or woman’s desire to be raped?

Out of respect for cultural differences, I’ve kept my feelings about the Dutch celebration of Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet to myself. But passivity, silence, and fear is what allows racism to thrive under the surface. While the rest of the world looks on in horror, Dutch citizens continue to justify a custom that is hurtful, offensive, and utterly regressive. I’ve heard a number of recycled excuses such as, “it’s fun, the children love it,” “it’s tradition,” and my personal favorite, “they’re just covered in soot!”. This is an unacceptable response from an otherwise tolerant and progressive culture. Zwarte Piet is a racist caricature that has its roots in slavery. The legend describes the figure as “a mischievous servant,” “a grateful freed slave,” and “a mastered devil”. I see little difference between these stereotypical images and the United States’s performance of blackface minstrel shows. What’s worse, there seems to be little to no resistance. Last year, a handful of protestors were arrested for speaking out against the tradition, and Suriname recently moved to ban the symbol. But for the most part, the celebration remains unchallenged. Considering how candidly the Dutch speak about Moroccan and Surinamese immigrants, namely their “inability to assimilate”, there is no way these images aren’t loaded with political significance. We have to make ethical decisions by asking ourselves a simple question: does it hurt people? If so, then it’s wrong. And this image hurts…

I highly recommend cycling home in Amsterdam on fucking ecstasy. Holy bajeezus, what a total body high… I’ve got those cartoon Bambi eyes right now. And I want to touch everything in sight.

I don’t have to be a sex worker in order to talk about sex work. Your being a sex worker does not somehow trump my ideas about sex work.

Yes, it does. You are clueless about sex work.

^

Yes, my ideas and my fellow sex workers ideas about sex work absolutely trump your ideas about sex work, sorry bruh.

Directors, philosophers, theorists, spiritual leaders, politicians. It’s 2012 and men still rule everything around me. As they have throughout all of human history. Across nearly every culture. At this point I think biology’s to blame.
